I think I've already said this before but I LOVE detail!  When you capture detail in a picture it shows people what they don't take time to notice. For example, how often do you look at the ants crawling around? I mean really look at them? They're amazing things to watch, working away so hard. Well in the picture below I caught a red fire ant making it way across the White Sands. And if you've ever been to the White Sands the ants don't really grab your attention, the miles and miles of while sand with beautiful mountains as the backdrop do. So by taking this picture I get to show people what they may not have noticed when they go to the White Sands.

Detail can also be captured in expression. I love to go to concerts and capture the faces that the band members make. Sometimes they make funny faces that they would probably ask me to delete if I ever showed them, which I love to laugh at because I know I'd make a similar face. But their faces are always expressing something. What kind of emotions do you get from this picture?

News From Verona

I think I may have already put this picture up, if so then you get to enjoy it twice :) This is the neck (head? I don't know a whole lot about guitars) of Tim from House of Heroes guitar. I love to photograph guitars and compare each band or band member's choice of guitar. It's a neat detail in life that people usually don't take the time to notice.

Mmmmm...Reese's :) There is deatail in this picture also. If you look at the chocolate you can see bite marks or little crumbs. It was kinda hard for me to take this picture because all I wanted to do was eat it! And I bet now you want one too :) 

A brides dress usually has so much detail in it. I think it's so cool to capture that detail, because when I was there I totally didn't notice that some of the beads made flowers. And small details like that mean a lot to the bride.

Flowers! Flowers have so much detail it's amazing! God created such beautifully detailed living things! In this picture, it really focused on the detail of the flower. And it also makes the yellow pop out when photographed against the red pedals. 

Snow is so much fun! To play in and to photograph! I liked that I found a branch with a pine cone on it, and just being honest, I didn't notice that there was a pine cone on it until I was about to click the button to take the picture. Even though I love detail I don't always notice it. Right then I was thinking about how cold my fingers were and that I wanted to photograph the snow before it melted.

Black and White vs. Color

Ok so thankfully these pictures are a lot clearer than the others (they better be it took forever to upload :/). Today I want to look at Black and White (monochrome) VS. Color. Some pictures look powerful in monochrome but some look better in color. I think it depends on what your photographing. In my pictures below the one of old trees look stronger in black and white, yet my pictures of flowers pop more when they're in color. I hope you enjoy these pictures :) Have a blessed day!

Same object but in black and white. Because the object didn't have color to begin with I think it looks better in black and white because you can focus more on the tree rather than be distracted by various colors in the background. 

Again because this picture didn't have very much color to begin with I think it looks fine in monochrome. Sorry I don't have a color one to show you.

This was actually taken very randomly, I was wanting to get a close up of the fuzzy flower things (its name is escaping my mind right now), but I didn't want to lay on he ground (because of fire ants) and look though the viewfinder to see what was in the frame. And this is what I ended up with! I think it look kinda cool, don't you?

Black and White. What do you like better?

I love photgraphing dead tree branches! Because of their many twist and turns, I think it makes them look neat!

This one of my favorite because of the way the branch looks like it's reaching out to you.

Ok, here is my example of when color looks better the monochrome. Here it looks washed out and dull, not a good look for flowers.

But here it looks bright and lively!

Another color example. Here you can see th flower poping out of the duller colors.

But in black and white, you don't really notice the flower, unless you're really looking for it and you don't want to make people look for it, you want it to be obvious, something that immediately draws the eye to it.
